Our Pillars of Wellbeing
At Shepton Mallet Community Infants’ School & Nursery, we are committed to promoting the wellbeing and positive mental health of every member of our school community. We recognise that children who feel safe, valued and supported are better able to learn, thrive and achieve their full potential.
Positive wellbeing is woven throughout school life and is promoted through our curriculum, daily interactions and wider school experiences. Through our carefully planned PSHE curriculum, pupils develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives.
We believe that wellbeing is fundamental to a child’s overall health and development. It helps children to build resilience, manage challenges, develop positive relationships and make the most of opportunities both in and out of school.
Physical and mental wellbeing are closely connected. Leading a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise, healthy eating, adequate sleep, and time to relax and play, can have a positive impact on emotional wellbeing. Likewise, positive mental health supports children to learn, grow and enjoy life.
By nurturing a strong sense of belonging, encouraging positive relationships and promoting healthy lifestyles, we aim to help every child flourish.
The way we feel – both physically and emotionally – is central to living well and achieving our best.
