School Lunches

All children in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 are entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals. However, parents/carers who believe they may be eligible for income-related Free School Meals should still complete an application to ensure that any Pupil Premium funding is allocated to the school.

Applications can be made online through the Somerset Council, or you can download and complete the application form using the link below. Please apply as soon as possible, as applications can take some time to process and cannot be backdated.

If you need any assistance completing the application, please get in touch with the school office, where we will be happy to help.

Apply or download a form here:

Nut-Free Policy

Natashas Law – Find out all about Allergens

Nut-Free School Policy

We are a nut-free school due to some pupils having severe, potentially life-threatening nut allergies. To help keep all children safe, we do not use nuts or nut-containing ingredients in any food prepared on site.

We ask all parents and carers to support us by carefully checking the contents of packed lunches and snacks before sending them to school.

The following items must not be brought into school:

  • Packs of nuts
  • Peanut butter sandwiches
  • Pine nuts
  • Fruit or cereal bars containing nuts
  • Chocolate spreads or chocolate products containing nuts (e.g. Nutella)
  • Sesame seed bread or rolls (as some children with nut allergies may also have severe reactions to sesame)
  • Cakes or baked goods made with nuts

Please note that this list is not exhaustive. Any food product containing nuts, nut ingredients, or labelled as “may contain nuts” should not be brought into school. Parents and carers are asked to check food labels carefully before providing packed lunches and snacks.

We would like to thank you in advance for your understanding, vigilance, and cooperation in helping us provide a safe environment for all our pupils.

Popcorn

Please do not include popcorn in your child’s lunchbox. Popcorn can present a choking risk for young children, particularly those under the age of five. As it is a hard food, it can easily become lodged in a child’s throat and is therefore not suitable for children in Nursery and Reception.

Thank you for helping us to keep all children safe.

Milk Scheme

Every child in our School is offered low-fat milk every day. If your child is lactose intolerant, please do not hesitate to contact the office to discuss alternatives.

Cool Milk – Under 5 Free Milk Provider

Free milk is available for all children under five in school, funded by the UK government. In our school, the milk is provided by Cool Milk, the UK’s leading school milk supplier. We will register your child for their free school milk on your behalf once we have obtained permission on the Parental Consent Form, providing Cool Milk with the information listed above.

School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme (Government-Funded Programme)

All children, including those attending Nursery, are entitled to receive a free piece of fruit or vegetable each day at break time through the School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme. This initiative supports healthy eating habits and encourages children to enjoy a variety of fruits and vegetables as part of a balanced diet.
