Exercise
With millions of us live streaming Joe Wicks’ workouts, searching for alternative PE lessons on YouTube and creating home curriculum documents has become the norm.
To stay fit and healthy, the NHS advises us to do at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity a week or around 20 to 30 minutes a day, but this may be difficult to achieve while home-bound.
Whether you’re entertaining the children of key workers or planning your lessons from home, or want to keep in touch with your parent body – PE has gone digital!
The early years team at SASP have put together set of resources for families and settings to stay active during 'lockdown' period. The ideas for these activities have been taken from our Full of Beans sessions and therefore use minimal equipment and are ideal for keeping early years aged children active.
Keep your children active and engaged in home learning…for free!
Exercise improves learning on three levels. First, it optimises your mind-set to improve alertness, attention, and motivation; second, it prepares and encourages nerve cells to bind to one another, which is the cellular basis for logging new information; and third, it spurs the development of new nerve cells from stem cells in the hippocampus." In short, not only does exercise help the brain get ready to learn but it actually makes retaining information easier! Fact.
